Collector Loft by UNStudio

Collector’s Loft by UNStudio is an ultimate living space to store and showcase things. The loft is located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. The main color theme there is white so everything that is presented there is in contrast with surroundings. The main walls in the loft flow through the space, and together with articulated ceilings create hybrid conditions in which exhibition areas merge into living areas. While the walls form a calm and controlled backdrop for the works of art, the ceiling is more articulated in its expression of this transition.

By interchanging luminous and opaque, the ceiling creates a field of ambient and local lighting conditions, forming an organizational element in the exhibition and the living areas.

In addition the former windows in the South wall have been replaced by floor to ceiling glass panes that frame and extend compelling views, over a full glass balcony, toward downtown Manhattan.

Beaumaris House by Maddison Architects

Formally, the house is split into two rectangular boxes. The black, zinc-clad southern box encloses living, kitchen and outdoor spaces, and cantilevers out beyond its ground floor enclosure to capture 270° Port Phillip Bay views. The discrete activities of the house, such as sleeping and bathing, are accommodated with the separate masonry northern wing. Exterior and interior designs are made from interesting combination of modern materials with wood.

There are a lot of wooden elements in the house what makes cosy. Large window and a lot of opened spaces make the house owners closer to great australian weather.

New Camper Store by EMBT

EMBT designed the new store for Camper in the spanish city of Sevilla.
Camper has much to do with “el campo”, that is the countryside, the fields… to walk in the fields… and so we imagined shoes stepping on irregular surfaces, like when we walk on earth.

Later, we visited Camper’s factory to see how shoes are made. There we understood we wanted to build our new store the same way Camper shoes are built in Mallorca.
We cut different shoe forms, with hills, without hills, tall, short, for men, for women… we put those flat profiles one next to the other… and that is how our the volume of our new Camper store appeared!

Queen Shoes by Studio Guilherme Torres

Studio Guilherme Torres designed a pure white shoe store located in the city of Londrina in Brazil.
Pure white. White paint is the new kind of colour closely linked with the futuristic world. This is a completely personalized project jumping back to the architect’s youth references, from the Star Wars imperial soldiers wearing unblemished white, from Superman’s Fortress of Solitude – a crystal castle in the heart of the North Pole – to the masterpiece of 2001: A Space Odyssey, an iconic reference. These references were intentionally mixed up to create the concept of this shoe shop in Londrina, Brazil.

The shop’s outer-space expressiveness results from a geometric movement which stems from eighteen 42 cm wide white segments which compose the walls and ceiling. The shop facade is the first segment and it introduces itself as a solid structure sculpted in order to create the entrances. The following segments obey the same movement pattern, each one of them sculpted to build the shop interior.

The cashier’s counter follows the segment patterns and comes to life as a detached sculpture right in the centre of the shop. Behind the counter, a panel hides a staircase which leads to a small storage room and a mezzanine. The uneven batten floor warms the visual of the shop atmosphere highlighting the geometry of the segments. The ceiling is about 2,40 m to 3 m high inside the shop due to the segments visual aspect in the ceiling.

  • Constructive system and sustainability.
The client asked us to observe the shopping centre policy which states that the shops have to be renovated every five years. Therefore, we chose to use wallboards, which is a light and resistant material and facilitates future architecture changes. The wallboard thermo-acoustics coupled with the volume in the ceiling and the walls resulted in a functional acoustics environment.
The lighting technical project determined the set-up of polyurethane tensioned screens on some of the segment faces, spreading the light equally. Only T5 light bulbs were used as they offer lighting efficiency with low-energy consumption with an added bonus of producing less heat. Compared to the same shop before the redecoration, there was a significant overall economy of approximately 70%, once the use of air-conditioning was reduced because less heat is produced by the new lighting project. The outcome is an almost shade less environment with efficient light.

Harmonically Natural Context House in Somosaguas

Presentation of greater spatial complexity and the use of forms which highlights the relationship between architecture A-cero and contemporary sculpture. The dominance of stylized curves and bold shapes that relate harmoniously to its natural environment while maintaining a modern character.
The horizontal shapes stacked on another, creating a stratified building that seems to emerge from the earth like a natural formation, the façades are treated with a black textured concrete, completing the analogy mineral.

The interior contains a varied program, solved with a very complex array of spaces with different heights and levels, as well as the particular shape of some of the rooms.
